Eskap will soon be available in English

👋 Welcome

General

Here you'll find articles on all the subjects I've tackled in this project to create an outdoor escape game. Some will be highly technical on product development (web, mobile, backend), others much less so (design, legal, personal development): I'll write about everything that I think can bring you value.

With this blog, I'd like to offer you the opportunity to have a look behind the scenes of Eskap: its creation, its operations, its future evolutions.

I'm not using AI to generate these lines, those are real articles written by a real human 🙂 And I haven't yet introduced the human who writes these lines!

About me

I'm Christophe, the sole founder and creator of Eskap.

I've been a developer since 2017 when I graduated from engineering school, and it's been just over 5 years that I've been working on mobile apps or websites. I've worked for several companies in Paris: Air France, BAM, Matera, Alan and moved two years ago to the wonderful city of Chambéry in Savoie.

One year ago, at the end of 2023, I took a “leap of faith“: leaving my permanent job with Alan to start an entrepreneurial journey.

In retrospect, I think I was trying to put myself in danger to force myself to learn new things. This “leap of faith“ allowed me to work on areas I was less familiar with, such as design, web development, marketing, accounting and even blogging!

Because yes, this blog is also part of that adventure.

The aims of this blog

In all honesty, I'm writing this blog both for you, reader, but also for myself. 🤓

For you, my goal is to:

  • Teach you at least one little thing in every article you read. I'll systematically ask myself what value you can derive from it, and summarize these learnings at the beginning of the article.
  • Potentially inspire you to take up entrepreneurship or a personal project, even if very small!

For myself, my goal is to :

  • Keep learning: this blog is part of my adventure with Eskap, and it helps me to improve myself by taking a step back on the most interesting learnings, but also on how to summarize those learnings to you.
  • Remembering my journey, because yes, I have a goldfish memory! 🐠 Making mistakes and learning from them is great, but you still have to remember them. So I'm hoping that this blog will serve as an archive of all my learnings.

How it works

Over the next few months, I'll be retracing the history of Eskap in chronological order, starting at the beginning: October 2023.

Each article will have a category (technical, product, personal development...) so that you can read what interests you and avoid getting bogged down in technical details if that's not your thing.

A new article will come out every other Monday until I run out of things to write about (and believe me, there's plenty).

All articles will be available in French and English. I write in French (my mother tongue), then translate into English. For me, it's the workflow I am most comfortable with, while keeping a wide target audience in mind. You can easily change language via the button at the bottom right of the website.

Teasing

A little (unordered) teasing of upcoming articles:

  • How to find the right person and the right idea?
  • What is Eskap's technical stack?
  • My tips for setting a release date for your product and sticking to it.
  • The use of AI in Eskap (images, sounds, editorial support).
  • The mistakes I made along the way.
  • Technological challenges encountered (such as AI models running locally on the phone).

See you in two weeks for the next article! 👋
